Conservatives scramble to find a strategy against Kamala Harris

This may be a sign that conspiracies are weakening on Americans.

“Sleepy Joe” was a name that stuck to President Joe Biden like white on rice. “Pocahontas” for Elizabeth Warren had some staying power and the infamous “Lock Her Up” chant plagued former democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton.

Former president Donald Trump were able to land different monikers and chants for their adversaries.

However, it looks like the current efforts are falling flat. As the elections enters into the 100-day stretch, there’s not much the GOP can do to stop the Vice-President from running.

Weak legal hurdles

House Speaker Mike Johnson suggested that the Vice-President would face legal obstacles when speaking with CNN. “I think they’ve got legal hurdles in some of these states, and it’ll be litigated, I would expect, on the ground there, and they’ll have to sort through that.”

He has also tried to classify the nomiation of Harris as “unlawful” and warned that democrats would face serious “legal trouble” for the nomiation. He offered absolutely no explanation for why it would be a legal hazard probably because he knows any sort of legal filing would be useless.

Kamala Harris blows off conspiracies

Vice President Kamala Harris has turned out to be an anomaly that republicans can’t quite seem able to put a conspiracy on. The closest they got was with Tulsi Gabbard characterizing Harris as an overzealous district attorney who locked up Black men for marijuana which, in an ironic twist, was not the slam dunk Gabbard hoped it to be since republicans are still not as open to marijuana usage as democrats.

That criticism has since been provided with context given that Black voters believed Kamala Harris was responsible and also a hypocrite when asked about her marijuana usage with rapper/entertainer Snoop Dogg.

A fact-check from some influencers on TikTok and other fact-checking websites such as AFP pointed out,

“The black male population of California state prisons stayed roughly the same during Harris’s time as attorney general. According to CDCR data, in December 2010, shortly before Harris took office, 29 percent of male inmates were black. In December 2017, after she left, this figure had dipped to 28.5 percent.”

But they’re still drumming up more conspiracies.

Whenever Trump’s not talking about Hannibal Lecter, he’s fumbling through his diatribes trying to come up with something about Harris that will stick, but that hasn’t been going so well.

He tried the same old tired routine of trying to connect his political opponents to conspiracies. At a North Carolina rally, Trump claimed that President Joe Biden was working with the deep state and he claimed Harris was “the one behind it” along with “radical left judges.”

He also failed to mention how he stacked the Supreme Court within his favor.

Then, for reasons known only to Trump, he said, “So think of it: They get me to that position, and then their campaign says, ‘I’m the prosecutor, and he is the convicted felon.’ That’s their campaign,” Trump said. “I don’t think people are going to buy it.” This gave Harris’ campaign to respond with a simple yet effective campaign ad.

All of these attacks just shows that the GOP reeks of desperation.

Trump running scared?

Trump was scheduled to debate President Biden on September 10th before Biden dropped out. Harris was all in to continue with the debate, but Trump backed out. His campaign team cited the reason was over the “political chaos” surrounding the nomination process of the DNC.

Harris struck back at Trump last week regarding the cancellation of the debate,

“I’ll tell you, I’m ready to debate Donald Trump. I have agreed to the previously agreed upon Sept. 10 debate. He agreed to that previously,” she said. “Now, here he is backpedaling, and I’m ready, and I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage, and so I’m ready to go.”

Even if Trump’s team felt that the democrats could have theoretically chosen another candidate right after Biden dropped out, no other democrats would’ve had enough backing and delegates to rival that of Harris. Trump also debated Biden prior to knowing if he would become the nominee for the DNC. This is undeniable, because Trump’s campaign knew of the dissidence that existed within the DNC prior to his June 27th debate which saw a disastrous performance from Biden. If they had faith that Biden would still be the nominee and Trump was okay with debating on September 10th, then someone on his campaign should be fired for not keeping tabs on what everyone saw coming after that first debate.

The truth is often uncomplicated and this time is no different. Trump thought he would have a walk in the park if he had to run against Biden again. However, given his old age and his own gaffes at his rallies — Trump and his campaign know fully well that they cannot risk having him on stage against Harris.

The GOP’s internal crisis

It’s obvious by now, JD Vance was the worst selection Trump could’ve picked to run as Vice-President.

Aside from the obvious problem of JD Vance liking Trump to Hitler, he is extraordinarily terrible as a candidate. CNN’s data reporter Harry Enten noted that Vance currently has a net favorability rating of -16 points in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and even his home state Ohio.

Also, Trump may still have to answer for his crimes despite setbacks in the documents case in Florida. Judge Aileen Cannon can only protect Trump for so long. Although she dismissed the case, citing that Jack Smith’s illegal appointment as special counsel was the reason, the case could still continue even if the Supreme Court muddied the waters on a President’s legal liabilities. Trump being tied up in legal liabilities means he’ll get plenty of news coverage long after the election and will likely be popular than any other candidate the GOP can produce.

It raises the question: what happens to the GOP if Trump runs again in four years?
